At Mint dental Mudgeeraba we treat these emergencies very seriously. We are here to help, if you are experiencing a dental emergency please call (07) 5525 2400 to book an emergency appointment.
During your emergency appointment, the dentist will examine your teeth and mouth and give you a diagnosis.
The dentist will discuss with you the treatment required to reduce, stop or temporarily alleviate pain. Any treatment required will only commence after we have your written agreement. So there is no obligation for you to go ahead with anything.
The dentist will give you a treatment plan to treat the dental problem and once you have accepted the treatment plan, an appointment can be made shortly after.
If you think you may need a filling, the best thing to do is pay a visit to the dentist and have yourself checked out. You can book an examination with Mint Dental at (07) 5525 2400
The most common reason you will need a filling is tooth decay. However a filling may be required when the tooth is either cracked or broken or damaged by bruxism (teeth grinding)
Leaving a cavity and not having it treated can lead to greater problems. Having a very deep filling may require the dentist to undertake more invasive root canal work.
Or for larger fillings a crown may be needed for extra support.
When you go for a dental examination, the dentist will use a metal explorer to check out the hardness of the enamel on your teeth. An X-ray of your dental area can also show up hidden areas of decay that may be of concern
A crown is a full coverage restoration providing ultimate support for the tooth. A tooth may become severely weakened when damaged by decay or fracture or if it has been root canal treated.
What is involved in getting a crown?
Dentists determine the right size and shape of the crown and prepare the tooth so that it will hold the crown in place. The tooth is prepared so the crown can be fitted over it, one or two impressions of the tooth are taken so that the replacement crown can be exactly the right size and dimensions. A temporary crown is generally fitted while your personalised permanent crown is being made.
Once the permanent crown is ready, the dentist fits it onto the tooth using a special cement that holds it securely in place and forms a seal to protect the tooth from any exposure to bacteria.
Once a crown is in place, it can be treated in exactly the same way as a standard tooth.
The objective of RCT is to save a tooth from severe damage from decay, disease or injury.
This kind of treatment involves the cleaning and the filling of the root canal systems (where the nerves were) .
After RCT the tooth needs to be protected from breaking down or fracture and needs to be sealed. There are a few option for this but the best option is to cover the tooth completely with a crown.

Prevention is Key!
We recommend cleans every 3-6 months to help maintain healthy teeth and gums. At Mint Dental we offer 2 cleaning packages:
Following a complete check-up, the most important part of regular care and maintenance of your teeth and gums is a professional clean and fluoride treatment.
Keeping your mouth healthy is essential not only for your teeth and gums, but for your overall health and well-being too. Tartar, also known as calculus, builds up over a period of time and can only be removed by your dentist. If not removed, your gums can recede, causing your underlying bone to recede, and in some cases this can result in tooth loss due to insufficient support structure holding the tooth in place.
It is recommended that a professional clean and fluoride application is done every 3- 6 months to remove the tartar and help keep your gums and teeth healthy.
Whitening can brighten your smile with very little effort.
Occasionally all you need is a thorough clean- by removing any external stains on your teeth from coffee, tea, or smoking.
Sometimes you may need an extra kick and the two main methods are:
take home whitening or in chair whitening.
A custom tray is made for your teeth. Whitening gel is applied to the tray and worn for a period of time. after about 2-4 weeks your smile is whiter and brighter!
This process is done in the dental surgery for about 90 mins. after this you will be given a whitening kit to further enhance your whiter brighter smile.
How does teeth whitening work?
Teeth whitening works by restoring your teeth’s ability to absorb oxygen. The oxygen from its whitening gel is absorbed into the tooth, dissolving stain molecules.
Is teeth whitening safe?
You might wonder if teeth whitening is safe, and the answer to that is yes. Clinical studies have shown that whitening your teeth with carbamide or hydrogen peroxide under the supervision of a dental professional is safe for teeth and gums.
Straighten your smile invisibly!
Invisalign is an alternative to metal braces essentially going undetected during the whole course of treatment. Invisalign is a series of custom clear aligners designed to move your teeth little by little until reaching the final “straight” position prescribed by your dentist.
Each aligner is worn for about 2 weeks and is only taken out when eating, brushing or flossing. As you replace each aligner your teeth will gradually move towards that final prescribed position. Then you’ll be smiling wider than ever before!
To see if invisalign can help you achieve the smile you’ve always wanted contact us to make an appointment!
